A logic grid puzzle gives you a story and some clues. You have to use the clues to figure out how different things are connected. For example, you might need to figure out who owns which pet, or who lives in which house.

The puzzle has a grid to help you keep track of what you know. You put check marks and X's in the grid as you solve the puzzle.

Let's Solve a Puzzle!

Here's a fun logic grid puzzle. Read the story and clues carefully:

The Story: Four friends – Alice, Bob, Carol, and David – each own a pet dragon. Each dragon is a different color: red, blue, green, or yellow. Can you figure out who owns which dragon?

The Clues:

1. Alice's dragon isn't red or blue.
2. Bob's dragon isn't green.
3. Carol owns the red dragon.
4. David's dragon isn't blue or yellow.

How to Use the Grid

Let's set up the grid. On one side, write the names of the friends. On the other side, write the colors of the dragons. Now, let's use the clues to fill in the grid:

1. Clue 1: Alice's dragon isn't red or blue. Put an X in the boxes where Alice and Red meet, and Alice and Blue meet.
2. Clue 2: Bob's dragon isn't green. Put an X in the box where Bob and Green meet.
3. Clue 3: Carol owns the red dragon. Put a check mark in the box where Carol and Red meet. Put X's in all other boxes in Carol's row and Red's column.
4. Clue 4: David's dragon isn't blue or yellow. Put an X in the boxes where David and Blue meet, and David and Yellow meet.

Now, look at the grid. You should be able to figure out the rest! For example, since Alice doesn't have red or blue, and Carol has red, and David cannot have yellow, Alice must have the green dragon. And so on!
