Let It Roll

Set out a few slopes, press GO, and watch the ball roll. When it misses, move one slope and run it again.

A few minutes · pointer, keyboard · saved on this device only

A ball drops in at the top of the board and rolls until something turns it. Your job is to put a few slopes in the empty sockets so that it finds its way into the bin.

Then you press GO, and that is the end of your part in it. The ball rolls on its own. You watch.

Mostly it misses the first time. That is the game: you see exactly where it went, you move one slope, and you run it again.

What is on the board

  • Slopes are the pieces you place. One turns a ball through a right angle — which way depends on which slope it is and which way the ball was going.
  • Blocks are solid. A ball that runs into one stops dead.
  • Springs throw a falling ball back upward. A ball rolling flat goes straight through as if the spring were not there.
  • Bumpers send the ball back exactly the way it came, so it runs back through your own machine and usually out of the top.

Springs and bumpers are bolted down. You cannot move them, and you do not have to use them — but you do have to know where they are.

There are five worlds and twelve puzzles in each. Nothing is timed, nothing is ever taken away, and a puzzle you have already done can only ever get a better score, never a worse one. Where you got to is kept on this device and goes nowhere else.

This one needs JavaScript to play. It is a ball rolling about, so there is no version of it that works as still pictures. With scripting turned off, this page is the description above and nothing more.
